SIMPLE SUPPERS

Simple Suppers once again are being planned for everyone to enjoy during our Lenten program. The ministries within the Church will be preparing “simple” meals followed a Lenten series on instruction on each of the five significant liturgies of Holy Week—Palm Sunday, Holy Wednesday, Maundy Thursday, Good Friday, and Holy Saturday. Two liturgies practiced by Christians around the world, but not by St. Michael’s, will be presented and explained—Tenebrae and The Easter Vigil.

We will go through each service in detail. The evening will end with the service of Compline. I have been in contact with the following individuals who have agreed to be the lead contact in coordinating the meals.

I am also aware that many of us are in overlapping groups (and many are also away). Our hope is that if needed you will be willing to do “double duty”.

The suppers will be from 6 – 8 PM on the following dates:

  • Feb. 25 Lay readers/Ushers Mary Whittemore

  • March 4 Altar Guild Cindy Purnell

  • March 11 The Vestry Jay Follansbee

  • March 18 Newcomers/Choir Cindy Pompelia

  • March 25 Faith Seeking/Adult Ed. Laura Fisher

The menu each week should include the following:

  • 3 different soups (one should be vegetarian) Plan on about 20 people

  • Bread

  • Peanut Butter sandwiches (a nice addition for a change) In the past we have cut them into quarters (sometimes that’s just enough)

  • Coffee, tea, water (church has coffee and lemonade mix)

Darrin will take care of the following:

  • Setting up Tables for food/drinks

  • Setting up warming trays, Bowls, silverware, napkins

  • Prepping the Coffee so when the group arrives the pot will just need to be plugged in.

Please do not hesitate to call me if there are any questions.
