Lenten Program 2025

Lent begins with Ash Wednesday on March 5th.

The topic at our Simple Suppers beginning on Wednesday, March 12th will be ‘forgiveness’. We will use a book by Dennis R. Maynard entitled, “Forgive and Get Your Life Back.” Maynard has been an Episcopal priest for over 50 years and he wrote this book as a compilation of what he learned about forgiveness from the perspective of a priest. He concludes that forgiveness is a process, not just a desire or a one-time statement. There are five step in the process of forgiving someone, similar to the five stages of grief. Sharing the book together will give us the opportunity to better understand God’s plan for forgiveness and to share our own experiences.

St. Michael's of the Valley Kids Sunday School

Kids Sunday School Returns

We are restarting kids Sunday school this Lent! We'll begin with classes on March 9th, March 23rd, April 6th, and April 20th, all at 9:15. Parents are invited to sit in and see what Sunday school is all about.

We'll be using Godly Play, a way of sharing Bible stories with kids in an interactive, hands-on way. Plus songs and art activities! God loves each and every one of us, and we want to share that love in a safe, caring, and fun environment.

For more information, please contact the church at 724-238-9411 or comment here on Facebook. Please spread the word, and we hope to see you there!

St. Michael’s of the Valley Weather Cancellation Policy 2025

St. Michael’s will offer both services on Sundays during the winter, unless the roads are so bad that the people who lead them cannot safely travel to the church, or if there is a problem with the heat or power at the church. Our rector has four-wheel drive transportation, and in most cases she would be able to get to church. It will be up to each family to use their discretion.

If we have to cancel services we will utilize the “One Call” notification system. One person will record a message which is then immediately sent to all phones on our call list. Everyone will receive the exact same message at the same time. The One Call system will send out texts, make calls to cell phones or home phones, and leave messages on voicemail. It also has a call back feature to retrieve the message.

So for now, unless you hear otherwise from the church, or see it posted on Facebook, assume that services are being offered.

“I am so excited for this next chapter of my ministry here and for what God has in store for us together as we proclaim the Gospel in the Ligonier area.”

We are too!
