SEXTON Darrin Testa

Darrin Testa is the new sexton for St. Michael’s.

He began his employment with St. Michaels in early July of 2023.

His past experience is grounds keeping and landscaping at Seton Hill University in Greensburg.

In his free time Darrin likes to hunt and fish. He is very much an outdoorsman.

He is happy to be now serving at St. Michael’s and work on improving the grounds and beautification of

St. Michael’s.

The Sexton is an integral position on the church staff, responsible for keeping St. Michael’s buildings and grounds clean, orderly, and safe by performing basic preventive maintenance, repairs, organization and routine cleaning. The Sexton is a liaison with outside service providers and contracted buildings and grounds businesses.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Genuine appreciation for faith-based, not-for-profit work
High school degree
Satisfactory background checks
General working knowledge of building systems and physical operations
Basic “handyman” and problem solving skills
Attention to detail
Flexible schedule
Ability to work productively without direct supervision
Ability to communicate proactively with church staff, Vestry, vendors and contractors

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Respond to general requests from the Rector and/or Junior Warden
Regularly cleaning and maintaining buildings and grounds
Routinely checking systems to ensure proper operations
Coordinating with approved contractors for maintenance and repairs as needed
Weekly check general physical condition of parking areas, playground and general grounds
Providing support for church events
Performing minor maintenance and repairs
Running occasional errands
